Update: Re:Sound

A week into summer vacation, and I always find myself looking back on the year that was. This past school year was incredibly productive for me as a professional. I picked up nearly full-time work, on top of being a full-time student (studying conducting). And then for the cherry on top, I started an a cappella chamber choir with some friends. We call ourselves the Re:Sound Chamber Choir, and I think you should like our Facebook page!

Also, if you live in the Vancouver area and want to sing with us, we are actively recruiting for next season! Rehearsals will start up in September and are held on Sundays from 11:45-1:30. Contact me for more information by email or through Facebook. Happy summer!

Update: Star Wars

“So Heather,” you may ask.  “How is your current job going?”

“Well,” I would reply slowly. “My trumpet players are driving me nuts.  More than usual.  They keep butchering the Star Wars theme.  It’s reaching Heart And Soul levels of irritation.”

And then it dawned on me.  Really, I’m amazed it took so long.  If I gave them the music, they would play the correct notes.  And they would practice.

Duh.

As a result, choral compositions are on hold as I re-arrange parts of Paul Cook’s arrangement for my beginners.  It will be our massed band piece for the end-of-year concert.

Mr. Williams, please be of a generous heart.  We do this out of love.  And to keep what little sanity we still retain.
